Sun 28 Sep 2008  Cup
Highway United Football Club 1
Paul Jones (1)
Thames Albion 2

The highwayunited.co.uk match reporter was unable to attend this game, although manager Nick Maginnis, 47, commented that the Highwaymen put in a more spirited performance than of late.

Behind to a goal just before half-time, Highway had a good few chances to equalise before going 0-2 down midway through the second half. A late penalty from club captain Paul Jones put Highway back in contention near the end and a dramatic miss near the final whistle put paid to extra time hopes.

Still, from the reports back from several players indicated that we could go into our Middlesex Cup tie with Ruislip Rovers in good heart. And, who knows, secure that first vital win of the season.

Come on the Highway!
